Futuristic and bass-heavy from Radikal Guru

coverPolish dub/reggae ambassador Mat Miller aka Radikal Guru is back with his second album, the follow-up to his 2011 released The Rootsteppa.

Subconscious is yet another mostly instrumental heavyweight effort filled with dread, dark, grim and – most importantly – murderation-styled drums and bass lines.

It is thick and rich-sounding, and Radikal Guru blends tempos, moods and bass heavy genres effortlessly.

Wicked Dub is jungle on ganja and Different Dub leans towards d&b, whereas album opener Earthwalker and the Echo Ranks combination Warning! are more roots-oriented. Spaced Out should just be sent to the doctor for its ground shaking sub-frequencies.

The end result is a futuristic and colourful example of contemporary bass-centred music with a rootsy twist.
