Million Stylez inna ganja style

Swedish super talent Million Stylez has recently dropped two tunes in a ganja style.  In October he released Move From On Ya, a heavy version of Peter Broggs’ classic International Farmer, produced by French label FuryBass.

Now Million Stylez drops a new ganja tune called Dutches, a reworking of RnB singer Chris Brown’s mega hit Deuces. Million Stylez relick is quite close to the original version (different lyrics though) and you can also hear him in a rap mode on this one.

Download Dutches for free below:

Many thanks to DJ Shirkhan of Safari Sound for providing Dutches.

Reggaemani’s best mixes in 2010

Mixes are such a great way of finding new music. Just let someone else do the hard work of finding the best tunes and then you buy them for yourself.

This year has presented lots of great mixes – ranging from old school reggae and dancehall to lovers rock and contemporary one drop.

A trusted source for many years have been BMC. This year he didn’t produce as many mixes as usual, but one did really make an impression on me and made me reevaluate Tarrus Riley.

There has also been some nice mashups and reggae remixes mixtapes. Max Tannone produced Talib Kweli and Mos Def in a reggae style. Both are wicked efforts. But my favorite this year was Yankees A Yard vol. 3 from French production duo Bost & Bim.

Below are my three favorite mixes this year. I’ve played these many, many times and strongly recommend you to download number three and two and buy the number one.

3. BMC – Tarrus Riley & Friends
I’ve always liked Riley junior. But at the same time I’ve thought that he’s a little too soft. This mix changed my view completely.

2. Safari Sound – Rock n’ Vibes Mixtape – Hosted by Ziggi Recado & Maikal X
Swedish Safari Sound in cooperation with Dutch label Rock n’ Vibes. Many great dubplates from singjay Ziggi Recado and singer Maikal X. But also some of the greatest tunes in 2010.

1. Bost & Bim – Yankees A Yard vol. 3
I must admit it. I’m a sucker for mash-ups and reggae remixes of hip-hop and soul. And this 40 track mixtape, only available on CD, made my summer.

Two great mixes from Safari Sound

Sweden-based Safari Sound has been working hard lately. Last week they presented a mix done for Din Gata on Swedish national radio. The mix consists of 89 tunes, mainly the latest dancehall sounds from around the globe. You’ll find Mykal Rose, Baby Cham and Bounty Killer on the latest Dave Kelly riddim as well as hit songs Straight Jeans & Fitted and Clarks.

Apart from working with radio shows, they’ve managed to produce a tribute mix to the late Gregory Isaacs. This mix blends old school Gregory with some newer material. Many favorites can be found here. You can’t go wrong with Universal Tribulation, Mr. Cop and Soon Forward along with dancehall monsters such as Rumours and Mind Yu Dis.

Listen and/or download both mixes here.

Jah Ark Manifest split the price money

The soundclash at Sweden’s Öland Roots Festival had a bitter ending when Denmark’s Firehouse questioned the judges ruling which led to some debate. Reggaemani has talked to DJ Shirkhan, one of the judges.

Jah Ark Manifest admitted that their win wasn’t completely fair and offered Firehouse a new “dub fi dub” session. The promoter had even arranged a new round. However, Firehouse rejected, but accepted nearly half the price money that Jah Ark Manifest offered, writes DJ Shirkhan to Reggaemani, and continues:

− We were very pressed for time at the end of the soundclash. However, Sammy K was clear on the fact that the last dubplate would determine the winner.

If you’re curious about the soundclash, check out Safari Sound’s audio recording.

Jah Ark Manifest are – after all – Kings of the Island

Last night at Öland Roots Festival Norwegian Jah Ark Manifest were crowned Kings of the Island in a soundclash between Sweden, Norway and Denmark. In addition to the title, Jah Ark Manifest won SEK 10.000 and a huge trophy. The tension rose during the battle, and afterward the judges’ questionable ruling broke out in a lengthy and heated argument.

The first night of Swedish Öland Roots Festival featured a massive soundclash between three Scandinavian sounds – Swedish Stereo Steppers, Norwegian Jah Ark Manifest and Danish Firehouse. Hosts and judges were DJ Shirkhan and Sammy K from Safari Sound.

The competition was divided into three sessions, only allowing dubplates. During the first session there were no eliminations, and the sounds had ten minutes each to flex their muscles.

For the second round the teams had 15 minutes each and one sound was to be eliminated. After an audience vote, it was clear that Stereo Steppers were out, even though they certainly got the crowd cheering with a dubplate from legendary Swedish reggae artist Peps Persson.

The sounds put on some tough dubplates with artists ranging from foundation fathers such as Johnny Osbourne and Leroy Sibbles to newer talents such as Natty King, Konshens and Fantan Mojah.

The final was a seven tune “dub fi dub” session. And it was a tough one. The score was 3-2 in favour of Firehouse and things were heating up a bit. The judges had a hard time reading the audience’s votes, but decided after some deliberation to name Jah Ark Manifest the winner. The Firehouse crew – and parts of the audience – questioned the ruling.

According to judge DJ Shirkhan a two hour argument followed on the question of the rightful winner. He admits that it was an unfair draw, but that it was fair win. Reggaemani congratulates Norway on the win (although I personally voted for Firehouse).

New mixtape from Safari Sound

Three months ago Sweden-based Safari Sound released a mixtape titled Bad People Deya! Move, Move, Move! filled with hardcore dancehall.

Now they are back with the more roots-oriented Rock N ‘Vibes Mixtape. As the title suggests, it offers material from Duth artists Maikal X and Ziggi Recado.

But the mix offers a lot more than that. All in all almost 50 heavy tunes and DJ Shirkhan and Sammy K has selected some of the best songs this year, including Get Away with Maikal X, Music in My Soul by Sizzla and Dread with Protoje.

Download the mixtape here and check out Genesis and Same Difference, the brand new albums from Maikal X and Ziggi Recado.

Förra året släpptes Back With A Blast och i dag släpps uppföljaren Bad People Deya!
